Most of what I know in the shop came from building something, figuring out why it failed, and trying again. That is how I moved from metal casting and welding into machining, CNC, robotics, software, and AI. I like the point where an idea has to survive contact with the real world.
I carry a notebook everywhere. It is full of sketches, measurements, project ideas, and fixes I do not want to forget.
